Nothing sets the pace for a journey of self fulfillment quite like digging holes in the rain with your german neighbor and your fiance. You see before our very first (and very successful) fundraiser, I was ready to get started on my dream right away. So I enlisted the help of the two people closest to me, to grab some shovels and get to work. I may have enticed them with frequent coffee breaks from the gypsy wagon next door (too frequent perhaps, as Stephanie the proprietor picked up on and mastered my future husband's favorite machiatto within the first week) as well as jalapeno chips from the store. But as the days progressed and the rain came down, coffee turned to beer and we were fortunate to have good friends come thru. So we kept at, every day just plugging away, and we even used the small level a time or two.
March 30th we had our fundraiser, and even the rain came again to play, but luckily it meant everyone was able to come together inside for a day. It was amazing tbh. We raised over $7500 usd. I am still in awe about the support the community came out to share with me.
Eventually April turned to May, the rain stopped, we got the walls up, the sun came out, the roof went on, and then we kept going. Painting, staining, a margarita and some light concrete work; this is the end of part one, check back for part two.
