Building the Gato Lounge Pt. 2

Updated: Aug 30

Where did I last leave us?.. Asi, that's right, we'd just worked out the main footprint of our little cat shack. With a freshly painted mural, some cool new windows, and proper insulation and thermodynamic cooling system in place, it was time to move forward and think outside the box.

Further we progressed on this project with the help from our friends, and further still did my knowledge of star bit sizing and fasteners too. In addition to the ferreteria La Gloria next door, and the myriad mom and pop shops nearby like Peñas, Cancun, and the lumberyard near the sand dunes; I also became keenly aware of the aisle numbers at the Home Depot on Balboa, enough to even enlighten some members of the staff on GRK brand fasteners in stock. Pretty soon we were starting to attract animal angels of all kinds, including these puppies my fiance/head builder found on the street.

We dug some holes, Tom (pictured in the blue beanie), really went to town on one. And I'm not even talking about the one from the picture, you should have seen the one with all the concrete that made up our northwest post! A pick axe was brought in (thanks Britta), and the boys proceeded to spend the afternoon hacking away until they got to the required depth of a single meter. Next came the exterior, leftover roof material laid on its side; and on top of that, some galvanized fencing with bars running horizontal to encourage outdoor seating to enjoy the view. The community that performs here we came to realize throughout the build are quite talented, it's true.
